Puerto Rico is a small island actually! It’s easy to forget because of the large culture coming out of this island. From end to end its less than a 3 hours drive, making San Juan a great base to sight-see while in Puerto Rico.
1 |PLAYA AVIONES
This is the first beach we had the pleasure of visiting, on the beginning of our 9 day trip to Puerto Rico. Located about 15 min east of Condado (25 from Old San Juan) with such a short drive we didn’t expect such a change in scenery. One minute you’re in the city, then next you’re on a very remote beach. Golden hour in the morning is special, the humidity starts to evaporate & you get this beautiful fog that glows in the sunlight.
TIP
Make sure you keep moving, or stay wet! The mosquitos & sand mites here are unreal so if you want a hang out on the sand beach make sure you bring plenty of bug repellent!
Located directly adjacent to Playa Aviones, closer to San Juan, this beach features a rare swimmable beach in the San Juan area. Coral rocks protect this swimming spot so you’re shielded by the strong Atlantic waves.

Condado is San Juan’s luxurious beachy neighborhood - almost like Miami’s Brickell. Reggaeton rings off the streets, lively nightlife, beach bars, and resorts - Condado feels like Bad Bunny music video.
Our AirBnB was the best part about staying in this area of San Juan

We stayed at the foothills of El Hippie Waterfall
North side is El Yunque National Park proper
A tent with an air mattress was all that was need to make this an awesome stay on El Hippie Waterfall
